Plant Science in the Neighbourhood

A couple of weeks ago I held our 5th annual seedling swap at home and used the opportunity to tell friends and IMG_0891neighbours about the plant health professional register (http://rsb plant health register news). Today, I learned that the Animal and Plant Health Agency will be at the Gardeners World exhibition next week (https://www.bbcgardenersworldlive.com) promoting plant protection in the garden.

Our neighbours love a chance for a catch-up over tea and cake and everyone goes home with something different to plant in the garden. Donations were given to WaterAid. True, sometimes it’s a chore to remember to set the seeds going early enough but having a date in the diary for the swap is a good prompt. It was great to know that a few friends have become regulars at this event and for some it was a first time as well.
