In 2019 I received an MBE for services to plant science education, following a long academic career first at the University of Leeds and then as a consultant for The University of Cambridge and Defra.

I am no longer actively consulting but maintain an interest in all matters that inspire, inform and assist the next generation of plant scientists and help everyone to appreciate the value of plants.

My work on the Gatsby Plant Science Summer School continues at The University of Cambridge.
